Dear Dad, Thank You!
Father's Day

This week we celebrate our dads. The men who work every day in different ways to provide for and support their families.

Someone once said, “Anyone can be a father, but it takes someone special to be a dad.”

And we couldn’t agree more.

The evolution of fatherhood is a special journey, and each dad, or father figure, plays an important role by providing support in many ways.

The Financial Provider

In the traditional sense, the men are the financial providers for the family. Of course today, the dynamics have changed, and women also play a supporting role financially.

However, the men of the family will often ensure that the responsibility doesn’t fall on others unnecessarily.

From birthday parties to gifts under the Christmas tree, dads might not know what’s planned or what to expect when unwrapping gifts labelled “for dad” (unless it’s another pair of socks) but they are the ones who make it possible.

Not to forget the family holidays - we can count on Dad to have it all booked. Of course, Dad will be the organised one too when it comes to currency, passport, and being at the airport much before time, scrambling to get everyone together for the numerous lines until you board the flight.

The Shoulder Ride

The best view always comes from sitting on Dad’s shoulders. You can count on Dad to lift you up and not miss out on all the action or the best views.

Dads make it look easy, and we might not know it at the time, but when we are older and the next time we are at a concert, or in a line at the theme park, we will remember Dad’s strong shoulders.

The Good Cop

“What did your Mom say?” Now, I am sure we have all run to Dad as soon as Mom has said no to the sleepover, or one more chocolate, or 20 minutes more TV time.

But, have you ever wondered why it’s sometimes easier to ask Dad? Moms are supermoms, handling and juggling many things. And it is not just because Dad doesn’t want to be there, but they know, it is important for them to go to work, which can often mean travelling too. So, Dad will always try to make up for it in different ways, like bringing home a gift or talking to an over-stimulated Mom to be the hero for his kids.

The Knowledge Bank

There is nothing like a good old conversation with your Dad, to keep you inspired, motivated, and feel safe.

We have so many father figures in our lives, and each one can teach us something special.

There’s something unique about a Dad’s perspective. We know them to be the ones who go out into this world and can come back with some fascinating stories to tell.

And at Ovvio, we want nothing more but to help Dads around the world, share their wisdom with others.

On Ovvio, you can share your knowledge instantly as a Giver, and choose the skills that best fit your experience, so others can find you and request a session.

Sessions on Ovvio are private and safe and can be done over video, audio, or chat.

Givers can offer sessions for free or charge a rate. It’s totally up to you. On Ovvio, we encourage community feedback and honesty to help improve experiences and get the best out of each session.

To all the Dads, we see you and we hear you - spread your knowledge and create a Giver account on Ovvio today!
